About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Utility Surveyor to join our growing team based in Birmingham. The successful candidate will lead utility mapping projects across the region, ensuring the highest standards in safety, accuracy, and delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the success of major infrastructure and construction projects, providing expert utility survey knowledge, mentoring junior surveyors, and managing client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage underground utility surveys across various sites using GPR and other detection methods.
* Carry out PAS 128-compliant surveys, from planning through to data collection and reporting.
* Interpret GPR data and integrate findings into comprehensive utility survey drawings.
* Produce and review detailed AutoCAD drawings and survey deliverables.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure clarity of requirements and deliverables.
* Provide technical leadership and support to junior surveyors and CAD technicians.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols and industry best practices.
* Assist in developing and improving internal processes and methodologies.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in utility surveying, including substantial field experience with GPR and EML.
* Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and processing utility data into accurate drawings.
* Solid understanding of PAS 128 standards and utility mapping classifications.
* Ability to interpret GPR results and integrate findings with other utility detection methods.
* Excellent communication skills and client-facing experience.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
* Valid UK driving licence (essential).
* CSCS card (preferred).
Desirable Qualifications:
* QCF Level 3 or 5 in Utility Mapping or Surveying (or equivalent)
* Experience with other survey software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, N4CE)
* SMSTS/SSSTS or other relevant H&S qualifications
