About the Team
This role sits within the Business and International Tax group. The Directors’ Private Secretaries and the wider Group Management Services (GMS) team support and advise the Group Management Team (2 Directors and 8 Deputy Directors) to manage the group effectively and deliver on leadership, corporate, and workforce strategies. This G7 role is crucial to the functioning of the GMS team, which mainly provides excellent business and Personal Assistant support. The postholder will gain significant exposure to SCS across the group.
This role, along with the Private Secretaries and GMS team, is part of the Strategy Devolution and Cross-Cutting team (SDX). SDX supports and develops strategic and critical thinking about the business tax system, leads cross-cutting projects, and acts as a source of expertise on tax devolution policy, supporting BIT’s corporate centre. About the Job
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leadership and management of GMS, including direct line management of 2 people and oversight of a wider team of 6, supporting performance and development, and integrating GMS into wider management strategies.
2. Leading BIT’s business planning and workforce strategy, advising Directors on resourcing, monitoring medium-term planning needs, and leading long-term planning aligned with BIT’s SR settlement. Regular liaising with SCS and presenting at weekly Group Management Team meetings.
3. Collaborating with finance partners, Directors, and DDs to deliver the group’s non-pay budget, ensuring targets are met through harmonized processes across all DD-led teams.
4. Supporting Directors and the leadership team to deliver corporate responsibilities, including leading diversity networks and providing secretariat support for Group Management Team meetings and communication.

You will be an experienced leader and manager of diverse teams, capable of delivering high-quality service. You exercise sound judgment, make decisions for the benefit of the group, and respond effectively to changing strategic situations. You can manage senior stakeholders and influence upwards, bringing different views into clear, cohesive decisions and advice.
