Ambulance Care Assistant (Driver)

Location: Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital - HA7 4LP

Salary: £30,855.03 per annum

Full-Time Shifts - 45 hours per week (various shifts available)

G4S is experiencing an exciting period of growth and is looking to expand our dedicated team of Ambulance Care professionals.


Main duties of the job

The Role

The Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) will play an important role in helping people receive the care they need. This requires empathy and compassion, skills you'll build upon during our two-week initial training and development programme, alongside guidance from our expert support team. We'll provide all the tools to help you build a meaningful career.

As an ACA with G4S Patient Transport Services, you'll transport elderly, sick, and vulnerable patients to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, showing compassion in times of vulnerability. Together, we'll work to support our community, the NHS, and our patients.

This is a vital role, providing excellent care and ensuring safety and patient welfare. You will receive all necessary training to be prepared for any situation.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

* Driving patients with varying health and mobility needs to and from hospital/clinic appointments
* Assisting, moving, and handling patients, including those who are ambulatory or wheelchair-bound, using appropriate equipment
* Ensuring safety and patient welfare, providing reassurance, comfort, and support
* Assisting patients entering and leaving their homes
* Maintaining vehicle and equipment cleanliness
* Liaising with central control for timely pick-up and drop-off
* Undertaking patient and vehicle risk assessments and completing reports or documentation


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Full UK Manual Driving Licence
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Physically fit to ensure safety and wellbeing of patients
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Sympathetic, respectful, and caring attitude towards patients
* Flexibility and adaptability according to service needs
* Enhanced DBS check - Applied for and paid by G4S
