Role Summary The Construction Planner plays a critical role in developing and managing programme schedules for a wide range of projects—from initial bid stage to completion. The role involves close collaboration with estimators, project managers, and site teams to ensure accurate planning, resource forecasting, and project sequencing, with an emphasis on risk management and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Pre-Construction Phase Develop detailed tender and pre-construction programmes using planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, MS Project). Work with bid and estimating teams to interpret scope, constraints, and client requirements. Provide input on buildability, logistics, and methodology to optimise delivery. Support tender submissions with programme narratives, phasing plans, and risk assessments. Attend bid interviews and client meetings to present programme strategies. Construction Phase Prepare and update contract programmes, short-term lookahead schedules, and recovery plans. Work with site and project teams to monitor actual progress vs planned, identifying and addressing delays. Conduct critical path analysis, resource loading, and sequencing. Provide progress reports, including dashboards, Gantt charts, and performance tracking. Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project milestones. Attend project meetings and support the management of EOT claims and variations where needed. Qualifications & Experience Proven experience in a Construction Planner or Project Planning role. Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing across various project types (e.g., new build, refurbishment, fit-out). Proficient in planning software such as Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, or MS Project. Excellent understanding of project lifecycles, contract forms (JCT, NEC), and CDM Regulations. Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills. Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline. Knowledge of BIM integration and 4D planning is an advantage. Desirable Skills Experience in design & build and two-stage procurement programmes. Ability to work independently across multiple projects and deadlines. Experience working in sectors like healthcare, education, or government is advantageous.
