Location: Upminster, Havering, East London
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £37,870 – £56,154 per annum (Outer London MPS/UPS, depending on experience)

Nature of the Job
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics to join a high-performing and supportive secondary school in Upminster, Havering. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective Maths lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students of all abilities to develop confidence and achievement in Mathematics.
Key responsibilities include:
• Planning and delivering high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Teaching core areas including Number, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Ratio & Proportion
• Assessing, tracking, and supporting student progress in line with school policies
• Using data effectively to raise attainment and close gaps in learning
• Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom engagement
• Contributing to departmental planning, schemes of work, and resources
• Working collaboratively within a supportive Mathematics department
Location
The role is based at a secondary school in Upminster, Havering (East London). The successful candidate will be required to work on-site during term time in line with the school calendar.
Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, permanent teaching position, employed directly by the school. Standard school working hours apply, including attendance at staff meetings, parents’ evenings, and training days as required.
Remuneration
Salary is aligned to the Outer London Teachers’ Pay Scale (MPS/UPS):
• £37,870 – £56,154 per annum
Salary placement will depend on qualifications and experience.
Experience and Training Requirements
Essential:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching Mathematics at KS3 and KS4
• Strong subject knowledge across the secondary Maths curriculum
• Ability to deliver structured, engaging, and well-differentiated lessons
Desirable:
• Experience in a UK secondary school setting
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Experience supporting mixed-ability groups and GCSE examination classes
• ECTs are welcome to apply; full induction and support will be provided
