An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Geologist to join a well-established infrastructure consultancy. This permanent role sits within the Infrastructure Division and plays a key part in the successful delivery of complex ground investigation projects. You will provide technical leadership, oversee field operations, and mentor a team of engineers, contributing to both project excellence and business growth. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage multiple ground investigation projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards Act as Technical Manager on large-scale ground investigation projects, both on land and overwater Supervise in-field works, including soil and rock logging in accordance with relevant industry standards Oversee in-situ testing and sampling activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications Promote accurate data collection and recording, providing constructive feedback to team members Review, check, and issue factual reports, interpretative reports, and AGS data to clients Provide technical support to project teams and contribute to continuous improvement in delivery standards Mentor and support the technical and professional development of engineers and junior staff Skills & Experience Strong technical knowledge of a wide range of ground investigation techniques Proven experience managing and supervising ground investigation projects Confident in providing technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams Experience checking reports, borehole records, and data deliverables Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams Qualifications Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant professional body is desirable Benefits Competitive salary, commensurate with experience Company pension scheme Generous annual leave allowance, plus bank holidays Flexible and hybrid working options (role dependent) Ongoing professional development and training support Clear progression pathways within a growing organisation Employee wellbeing initiatives and support programmes
