Speech and Language Therapist
Full‑time permanent role at Oakfield House School – Salwick, North West PR4 0YH. 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 – 4:30, salary up to £53,200 FTE (DOE) plus £3,000 Welcome Bonus (£1,500 after one month, £1,500 after final probation). Eligible for a £2,000 CPD training allowance.
The role
Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs. Work within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working. Manage a caseload, support multidisciplinary team, contribute to staff training and consultation, and uphold safeguarding culture.
Essential criteria
* Degree or Masters in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT
* Relevant experience working with complex communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in various settings
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in SaLT practice
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgmental skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Good time‑management and organisational skills
* Competence in core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT communication standards
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and support plan formulation
* Full driving licence and access to a car
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that impact communication
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
