Stroke rehabilitation assistant
Band 2
Main duties of the job
* To work within the clinical unit at endeavour suite stroke unit
* Assist qualified staff by undertaking personal care duties and activities of daily living for patients
* Assist nursing team with all nursing elements including wound care, continence management and monitoring of patients vital signs.
* Provide and promote a high standard of fundamental care to patients
* Report and record patient information
* Actively participate in patient’s individual rehabilitation programmes under the guidance of occupational therapy and physiotherapy professionals
* Work autonomously as well as part of the team.
Person specification
Qualifications
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent
* NVQ level 3 or care certificate (working towards)
Experience
* Previous care experience in inpatient settings
Special knowledge/expertise
* Previous clinical competency achievements
Practical skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to demonstrate empathy and motivate patients to take part in rehabilitation programmes
* Ability to work as part of a team
