Position Overview:
Are you an experienced nurse with a UK Registered PIN looking to work at an outstanding trust and regional specialist haematology and oncology centre? Do you want to work with a supportive team focused on patient-centered care? Are you interested in family-friendly hours with no night or weekend shifts?
The Outpatients department at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology (BHOC) centre has a vacancy for a Band 5 registered nurse passionate about cancer care. The service operates weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00, including some Bank Holidays, with shifts supporting this schedule. We seek candidates enthusiastic about oncology and haematology, eager to develop their skills in a research-rich environment with a large clinical trials team and a commitment to staff development. We are also developing a staff wellbeing programme for the benefit of staff and patients.
Responsibilities:
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
* Communicate effectively, maintaining confidentiality with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team. Provide written and verbal advice/teaching to patients and carers.
* Supervise staff and students in the absence of senior staff; act as a role model and mentor for learners and junior staff.
* Maintain accurate and timely records of care and treatment in line with Trust policies and NMC standards.
* Work within Trust nursing policies and procedures, undertaking all relevant clinical skills following appropriate training.
* Promote a safe environment by administering medicines per Trust policy, maintaining cleanliness, and preventing infections.
* Respond promptly to resolve patient and carer issues, utilizing complaints procedures and PALs when appropriate.
* Assist with the smooth running of the clinical area, including unpacking stores and equipment maintenance.
* Work with senior nurses to develop management skills.
Note: SACT training is advantageous.
