Description:
Brodie Engineering is a leading rolling stock engineering business offering refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management, and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector. Operating from depots in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and providing mobile services across the UK and Ireland, we are looking to recruit a Stores Person.
The role involves supporting the daily operation of the consumables store, ensuring the secure, efficient, and reliable delivery of services to colleagues. Responsibilities include storing, handling, issuing consumable parts, maintaining accurate transaction records, and performing stock checks.
The Duties of the Role Include:
1. Loading/Unloading of lorries and vans
2. Raising requisition orders and liaising with Materials Manager on purchase of supplies
3. Ensuring timely receipt of materials into electronic database
4. Managing stock movements physically and electronically
5. Checking material certification against orders
6. Maintaining required stock levels
7. Controlling materials in accordance with internal processes and quality procedures
8. Handling chemicals/paints safely in line with COSHH procedures
9. Participating in stock cycle counts
10. Producing stock usage reports
11. Monitoring trends and abnormal usage
12. Packaging materials for shipment
13. Preparing delivery paperwork
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have knowledge of rail industry terminology or building trade (preferred)
* Have excellent attention to detail
* Be proficient in Excel and Word
* Experience with SAGE (desirable)
* Be proactive with a positive approach and able to work independently
* Possess strong organizational and time management skills
* Be an effective communicator at all levels
* Have warehouse experience
* Possess a forklift license (desirable)
* Have a valid driving license
