What you will be doing
You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with a range of Mental Health conditions, using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recover pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.
Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.
It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.
The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends.
Experience as a Support Worker or HCA is essential.
Where you will be working
You will be working at the Gateway Recovery Centre, a state-of-the-art facility, providing care for men and women with complex mental health requirements to reduce risk behaviours associated with mental health conditions so that people in your care can ultimately live successful and fulfilling lives within the community.
The service is split into four distinct areas:
1. Male Autism Service for the challenging and complex needs of adults with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome
2. Assessment and rehabilitation for women with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties
3. Specialist inpatient service for older men with complex mental health and physical health needs
4. Low secure care setting for men with a mental illness with or without personality disorder/mild learning disabilities
