Flower Pots Day Nursery is looking for a motivated, reliable, and caring Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our children through nutritious meals and a clean, well-run kitchen environment. We have two openings in our Chesham and Apsley nurseries,
As a valued member of our nursery team, you'll help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen by preparing and serving meals, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting our children's dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to planned menus, portion sizes, and dietary guidelines.
* Ensure meals are presented attractively and served on time.
* Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and waste management.
* Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations in line with current standards.
* Support children's individual dietary requirements, working with the management team to provide appropriate meals.
* Keep accurate stock records and assist with ordering and stock control.
* Report any kitchen or equipment maintenance needs promptly.
* Contribute ideas for menu improvements, considering nutrition and variety.
* Work cooperatively with nursery staff and contribute to a friendly, positive environment.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience in a catering or kitchen environment (nursery or school setting preferred).
* Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
* Understanding of dietary requirements and allergies.
* Good organisational and time-management skills.
* High attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness.
* Friendly, team-oriented approach and good communication skills.
* Relevant food hygiene certification (desirable but not essential — training can be provided).
