Overview
Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) at Stantec. Join our Energy team to lead and contribute to HV substation design projects, FEED and detailed design, and refurbishment/new-build works for clients across the UK.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the HV team on electrical substation design projects, supporting and leading FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects.
* Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver multidisciplinary solutions and ensure alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
* Develop and specify HV Substation plant electrical power systems and associated components, with consideration of protection systems, P&C aspects, and related infrastructure.
* Engage with key T&D clients in the UK, coach and contribute to the wider energy team, and promote innovative and best-practice solutions.
* Participate in projects across a range of domains (e.g., HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, OHL, building design, geotechnical solutions, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment, and connection schemes) as part of a diverse project portfolio.
Qualifications
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
* Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer with design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and components.
* Understanding of protection and control (P&C) aspects is preferable.
* Pro-active, with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry, and the ability to coach and work within a team.
* Willingness to learn and adapt; candidates from various technical backgrounds may be considered with appropriate training and development from Stantec.
