An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paediatric Cardiologist with an expertise in fetal cardiology to join The Scottish Paediatric Cardiac Service in this new position as a locum appointment initially with a view to a substantive position.
The successful applicant for this 10PA post will join the existing Cardiologist with an expertise in fetal cardiology and the well established fetal medicine team in developing the pan-Scotland fetal cardiology service based at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. They will also join a wider team of 10 paediatric cardiologists, 7 of whom are based in Glasgow who provide acute care for the Scottish Paediatric Cardiac Service where all invasive cardiac therapy for paediatric patients in Scotland are provided. The service has an annual activity of approximately 300 cardiac operations and 220 catheter interventions, both structural and electrophysiological and also provides clinic support both locally and in outreach clinics across Scotland.
The post will be based at The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, a state-of-the-art institution opened in 2015 with both maternity and neonatal services on site and is co-located with the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital .
Applicants must hold full registration with the General Medical Council, a licence to practice and be either listed on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for this at the time of application. Applicants must also hold either a UK certificate of completion of training (CCT) in paediatric cardiology or be within six months of achieving this or currently hold a certificate of equivalent specialist registration (CESR). The successful applicant will possess sub-specialty training and skills in fetal cardiology with a contemporary clinical practice in this area of expertise.
