The role
Are you an experienced hospitality professional who is passionate about creating memorable nights out? We are looking for a Venue Manager to take the lead on our main venue, Rubix, providing students with fantastic experiences, and giving them the best social life at Surrey. Surrey Students’ Union is the sole representative body for the University of Surrey Students. Our vision is to make sure our students have the best Surrey life, and we achieve this through representing student voice, helping students participate in activities, providing a sense of belonging and a vibrant social life, and supporting students through campaigns and services. We represent approximately 17,000 students on every level of their University experience, led by a team of elected student representatives and a dynamic staff team including over 150 student staff. Under the leadership of the Vice‑President Community and Head of Commercial Operations, the Community Zone oversees student entertainment, volunteering, fundraising, engagement within the local community and leads on sustainability at the University and within the student body. The Community Zone is also responsible for organising showcase events throughout the year such as graduation ball, Union awards evenings, cultural and democratic events.
Our main venue, Rubix, is one of the biggest licensed venues south of London, a truly multi‑purpose venue. Its core nights are Wednesdays and Fridays, but there is always something going on throughout the week. It’s part of the Student Union venue family and you will be joining the compact team running our spaces across both campuses whilst primarily focusing on our main venue. We pride ourselves on creating fun and safe environments where students can meet people, socialise and make lasting memories of their time at Surrey.
