HGV2 Driver

1. £16.00 per hour
2. Monday to Friday
3. 45 hours per week
4. Shift lengths may vary depending on daily operational requirements
5. Temporary to permanent opportunity
6. Pay increases to £16.50 per hour upon successful permanent transfer
Manpower Scotland is currently recruiting for an experienced HGV2 Driver to join a well-established waste and recycling operation based in the Paisley area. The Role:
You will be responsible for the safe collection and transportation of a variety of waste streams from customer premises to recycling sites. You will also deliver waste consignments and finished company products to customer locations as required.
This role involves a mixture of rigid and curtain sider work, with varying routes and locations each day. You will typically complete 4 to 7 collections per shift, with travel distances varying depending on operational requirements.
There is a manual handling element to the role, including cage work and palletised goods.
Key Responsibilities:
7. Safe collection and delivery of waste materials and company products
8. Operating both rigid and curtain sider vehicles as required
9. Completing 4-7 collections per shift with variable travel routes
10. Ensuring waste is loaded, secured, and transported correctly at all times
11. Handling cages and palletised goods safely and efficiently
12. Carrying out daily vehicle checks and maintaining vehicle cleanliness
13. Reporting defects, incidents, and safety concerns promptly
14. Completing all documentation accurately and in a timely manner
15. Adhering to all relevant legislation including EU/WTD tachograph rules and Operator Licence requirements
16. Ensuring full compliance with company policies, health & safety procedures, and site rules
17. Acting as a professional representative of the business at all times
18. Communicating effectively with customers and internal teams regarding any additional requirements or issues
Requirements:
19. Valid HGV2 (Cat C) licence
20. Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card
21. Maximum 3 penalty points on licence
22. Strong knowledge of UK road networks and Highway Code
23. Understanding of tachograph and transport compliance regulations
24. Customer-focused approach with strong communication skills
25. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
26. High attention to detail and commitment to safety
27. Flexible and proactive attitude to meet operational needs
Desirable:
28. Experience within the waste or recycling industry
29. ADR qualification (beneficial but not essential)
Recruitment Process:
30. All candidates will complete a short interview
31. Driving assessment required prior to confirmation of start date
32. Induction of 3-4 days training depending on experience
