As a wave leader of the 5-day residential Summer 2024 NCS programmes you will be responsible for a staff team of between 7 – 12 and young person group sizes of around 120 partici pants.
This is a varied leadership role that focuses on ensuring young people are kept safe and getting the most from their NCS experience while ensuring the logistics and administration of the wave are running smoothly. You will be responsible for quality assessing and providing feedback on your staff’s session delivery; being the main contact for any safeguarding issues that may arise on your programme; and ensuring rotas are in place for your programme so that staff get adequate rest.
This role is suitable for a dynamic and confident person who has experience of leading large groups of people and who can both motivate and work positively with them as well as manage challenging behaviours. You will act as a role model, enthusiastically taking on challenges and promoting your team to do the same. Responsibilities
* Manage, lead and inspire 120 young people and a staff team of 12 en suring appropriate and effective programme activity is undertaken.
* Build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders (venue reps, community partners and parents) for example confirming taxis for any YPs with additional needs.
* Undertake all programme administration and logistical duties and liaise with all Twin departments as necessary. This may include risk assessments, registers, collection and tracking of sensitive information, and attendance.
* Managing a staff team and ensuring their administration is completed each day (for example session planning and risk assessments)
* Complete appraisals on each staff member, ensuring regular performance feedback is given throughout the programme.
* Manage sensitive data relating to staff, young people and their families.
* Establish rapport and build supportive relationships with your staff and young people.
* Adhere and implement the lights out policy, and work with other staff to ensure the young peoples’ safety during the night.
* Ensure young people are supervised during breaks, meals, free time and at night, with the support from the Facilitators.
* Ensure young people’s access and dietary requirements are met in a residential setting.
* Work with the Facilitators to ensure staff are supported through the residential programme, have adequate breaks.
* Work with the Facilitators to manage the behaviour of the programme, supporting in providing pastoral support to individual young people or staff.
* Lead by example and ensure all policies and procedures are followed, including but not exclusive to Safeguarding, GDPR and Health and Safety
* Take charge in case of an emergency and inform HQ immediately about any serious incidents and complete Incident Reports
* Adapt and facilitate appropriate inclusive programme activity.
* Be a positive representative for the NCS programme.
* Ensure all delivery is of a high standard, observing and reporting these standards.
* Attend/complete all required training.
Education/Qualification
* Demonstrable educational level appropriate to the needs and scope of the role
* A qualification in youth work or previous experience in managing groups/classes of children/young people.
Skills and Experience
Essential
* Experience of managing/leading and motivating a team and groups of young people.
* Administrative experience and confidence in keeping wave admin up to date and accurate .
* Overseeing the residential logistics on the ground, and supporting your staff's wellbeing
* Good interpersonal skills with people at all levels, including colleagues, young people, parents/guardians, community partners and professionals.
* Demonstrate sensitivity and confidentiality to staff, young people, parents/guardians, and their families.
* Ability to work in a highly pressured and fast-paced environment.
* Previous experience of NCS provision
* A clean driving license and access to a vehicle
Desirable, but not essential:
* Current HSE-recognised First Aid certificate .

Salary: £800.00 per week depending on experience
