Job overview We are very busy Emergency Department, treating on average 50,000 patients a year. Competent and/or willing to undertake further relevant training in the management of paediatric minor illnesses and minor injuries. To provide assessment, recognition, prioritisation and evaluation of children with minor injuries /serious illness /injury presenting for urgent care. To manage paediatric minor illnesses and minor injuries within scope of competency using PGD where available and seek clinical support from U&EC consultants or paediatric consultants or senior paediatric doctor when required. To effectively manage and develop the nursing team within the Urgent and Emergency centre and provide professional and clinical leadership in the delivery of high quality, safe, cost effective care to children and families. To develop the role of the Paediatric Nurse Practitioner/ Paediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner, assisting in meeting the standard of all children being assessed, treated and discharged / admitted within 4 hours of arrival.
