Main Purpose of the Role
* Support the Revenues Operation Manager to deliver an excellent, customer-focused, and inclusive front-line Council Tax service.
* Collaborate with the Revenues Operation Manager to ensure a prompt and efficient Council Tax service, including quality assurance, resource planning, verifying discounts and exemptions for authenticity, and recovering debts where inappropriate awards or deceptions are identified.
* Assist in ensuring all operational aspects of Council Tax are proficiently managed to protect the council's income.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Adapt service delivery to meet changing community and customer needs.
* Monitor and review service outcomes, ensuring the effective achievement of personal and team objectives.
* Plan, deploy, and coordinate staff resources to meet operational needs.
* Ensure services comply with statutory legislation, local strategies, and policies.
* Understand the impact of your service on other functions.
* Manage the team daily to deliver an efficient collection and review service, including conducting team briefings, one-to-one meetings, and appraisals.
* Oversee the digitalisation of Revenues and Benefits post to meet service level agreements.
* Assist in validating council tax refund requests.
* Collaborate with the Revenues and Benefits Management Team to review procedures, write clear work instructions, and ensure a seamless, quality service.
* Collect data to ensure processing accuracy, monitor KPIs, analyze performance trends, and implement service improvements.
* Provide advice on complex council tax queries and interpret legislation, assisting in mentoring and training as needed.
* Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures, and technology, and pursue personal and professional development.
* Ensure staff actions maximize revenue collection, promote welfare benefits, and consider applications for hardship.
