Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Project Leader in - Vehicle Exteriors to be based at customer site in Woking.
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role:
The role requires working closely with Series engineering team on resolving various issues on body engineering domain like structures, exterior systems and closure mechanisms. The role requires candidate to have diverse knowledge with a desire to broaden their skills of a variety of commodities as well as develop their commercial skills. The role requires someone with engineering expertise, basics of project management and some commercial/product costing experience
Area of Responsibility
This position is responsible for ensuring that the assigned suppliers are aware of our client’s requirements for meeting the selected elements of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and that upon successful completion the PSW is submitted on time according to the project planned milestone. You will have responsibility for:
·Execution of Vehicle development plan, Issue management targets, cost reduction targets, and maintenance of D&D, VTC, and project-based requirement tracking and gateway reporting.
·Design Reviews with team to all feasibility & suggestions for alternate solutions.
·Reviewing the technical solutions/technical documents (fit & finish, Tolerance stackup, supplier RFQs or SORs before customer reviews.
·Support team during Customer Design review.
·Working knowledge of body systems covering Exteriors systems, Closures mechanisms, Structures, Composite materials.
·Create and author design guides to assist in creating Best Practices / lessons.
·Support and/or define best working practise within engineering group.
·Support throughout various program phases other disciplines in the engineering team, on an as needed basis.
·Provide technical support to team
·Mentor and help PE & DE’s represent the Body function group for your module / Issues / Ideas at vehicle design review.
·Customer meeting related to technical concept finalisation/demonstration (virtual & F2F)-SME to inline with project team with right technical backups/study/benchmark analysis
Knowledge / Experience
·Knowledge of Body Interior, exterior & closure systems.
·Experience in working in Body Engineering domain.
·Broad technical knowledge and experience of high and medium volume production technologies.
·Appropriate level of expertise in relevant technologies – Injection moulding’s, mechanism design, light weight composites, wood fibre substrates, leather wrapping etc. Excellent feasibility assessment of design proposals, including design for manufacture and DFMEA’s
·Ability to independently analyse and overcome technical challenges with workable and innovative engineering solutions.
·High proficiency in the definition and application GD & T.
·Specific knowledge of Legislative and automotive design constraints for interior systems preferred.
·PC literate and at ease with MS Office products.
·A high level of technical knowledge & experience of vehicle component, system design, development, manufacturing and testing
·Previous Managerial experience working in OEM or tier one supplier with whole product life cycle.
·Component & system design within an APQP or similar framework including FMEA, DVP, component planning and PPAP
·Previous VAVE/TVM/Cost Management experience is highly appreciated.
·Knowledge of Fault Finding and Root Cause Analysis.
