Job overview Robin Ward is seeking enthusiastic and dynamic Staff Nurses to join our friendly surgical team. Robin Ward is a 14-bedded surgical ward with 5 trolley spaces within ESAC (Day Case Unit). We provide care to both elective and emergency surgical patients, across a wide range of specialties including: Upper Gastrointestinal Colorectal Breast Vascular Urology Previous surgical experience is not essential, as full training and support will be provided. Advert Main Duties and Responsibilities Deliver high-quality pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to surgical patients Perform wound care and dressings in line with clinical guidelines Administer medications safely and accurately Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and documentation Take daily responsibility for allocated patients, ensuring continuity of care Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the wider healthcare team Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate individualised programmes of care Professional Practice and Team Contribution Work efficiently within a team nursing framework while providing individualised, patient-centred care Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive and supportive learning environment Supervise and support junior registered nurses and non-registered staff Actively participate in service improvement and quality care delivery Role Overview This is a varied, challenging, and rewarding role offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to patient care. You will support patients through rehabilitation and recovery following surgery or acute illness, as well as provide holistic, compassionate care to patients at the end of life, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Working as a Registered Nurse within the hospital setting. Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, working alongside the multidisciplinary team, incorporating: Delivering high quality direct patient care Following patient admission/transfer/discharge processes Maintaining a safe environment Medication administration Care planning, implementation and evaluation Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, patients, families and their carers Maintain best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence-based practice and research Accountable to nurse in charge of each shift and supporting junior colleagues Maintain skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and the Trusts policies and procedure See full job description for full details.
