Home Manager at Hill Care
Location: Beechwood Care Home, Romanby Road

Responsibilities
* Maximise revenue by achieving the highest possible level of occupancy, through local sales activities, achieving the highest fee rates obtainable, and managing other agreed revenue-producing activities.
* Monitor and control all costs by regular review of expenditure against budget, seeking approval for any variance.
* Prepare a detailed draft business plan and annual budget, including justification for all expenditure and support for income predictions; recommend fee rates for self-funding residents and tariff for other services.
* Ensure accounting and administration systems are effectively implemented; ensure prompt collection of fees to minimise debts and debtor days in accordance with the Credit Control Policy.
* Adhere to operational, administrative, procedural, nursing, care and professional standards; ensure residents' care and social needs are met; visit every resident regularly to develop a close and trusting relationship.
* Handle and resolve complaints, critical incidents, accidents or outbreaks of infection, reporting to other company managers per policy and national requirements.
* Maintain relationships with Care Commissions, Social Services Departments and other external regulatory bodies; manage internal and external inspections.
* Promote the Home in the local community for marketing, maintaining a high reputation with potential residents and referrers; develop new contacts with key business influencers.
* Manage staff in all respects including recruitment (ensuring trained staff have current PIN numbers, and references and disclosures are received) training, motivation, retention, communication, monitoring, appraisal and disciplinary actions as required.
* Ensure the Home meets regulatory and statutory requirements (fire, health and safety, COSHH, infection control, employment) and undertake/record appropriate risk assessments.
* Maintain buildings and grounds to company standards; ensure decoration, cleanliness and security are maintained at all times.
* Assess potential residents to establish suitability before admission; arrange admission, liaising with family, GP, etc., as required.
* Manage sales enquiries per the agreed procedure, maximizing conversions to admissions.
* Ensure compliance with Hill Care Group Quality Assurance Programme and Care Standards Act; ensure staff comply with NMC Code of Conduct and Code of Practice for Social Workers.
* Provide a full activities programme to enhance residents' psychological and physical wellbeing.
* Work in partnership with residents to ensure their views, choices and interests are central to care and services.
* Respect residents as individuals, protecting dignity and privacy; promote positive risk-taking to maximise independence.
* Respect cultural and social diversity; maintain links with the community; support relatives and friends in care.
* Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, staff and external visitors; deal sensitively with concerns.
* Protect residents from abuse and report concerns per company policies and procedures.
* Keep knowledge and skills up to date to deliver high standards of care and service.
* Any other reasonable task requested by the manager within area of competence.

Qualifications & Skills
Required Criteria
* Degree in social work, nursing, occupational therapy, or a health and social care related degree
* Previous management/supervisory experience
* Experience working with residents and their families
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a care home or health care setting
* Experience handling safeguarding concerns and incident reporting
Desirable Criteria
* HR and Marketing experience
