About The Role
We require a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support one of the projects SRP. The Nuclear Decommissioning Authorities (NDA) Programme and Project Partners (PPP) contract model, allows the skills and expertise of both Sellafield Ltd and their Lot Partners to be combined to deliver a step change in major project delivery.
The Sellafield Product & Residue Store (SPRS) Retreatment Plant (SRP) Project will provide a facility that receives Special Nuclear Material (SNM) from existing stores across the Sellafield site and processes it into a form suitable for safe and secure storage until 2120. This is a national strategic asset. This new Retreatment Plant project will make Sellafield safer sooner by:
1. Safely receiving all SNM packages from their current storage locations.
2. Retreating and/or repackaging those packages into 100-year packages.
3. Transferring the new 100-year packages to the Sellafield Product & Residue Store (SPRS)
4. Enabling all SNM to remain safe and secure in this Store – into the next century and beyond.
The SRP project is currently in the execution phase which incorporates procurement, design, manufacture, works test, installation, and commissioning. This role is required to provide both design support activities to the supply chain, along with completion of outstanding design scope from earlier project phases. Furthermore, the role will include overseeing implementation of formal Design Change.
Requirements
5. For assigned work packages produce engineering design deliverables (specification, drawing, analysis, verification or assessment of engineering) that satisfy the legal and functional requirements along with the associated performance conditions to the agreed time, cost and quality.
6. Deliver a safe, fit-for-purpose, fully integrated and operable design solution that meets product requirements.
7. Produce design deliverables that provide a fit-for-purpose integrated solution which meets specified requirements, including validation and verification, and that preserve the design intent and align with the plant configuration, as appropriate.
8. Ensure the design solution is able to be manufactured, constructed, commissioned, handed over, put into operation, maintained and decommissioned.
Essential Skills and Experience
9. Experience in the use of Auto desk inventor.
10. Experience in the use of Auto desk vault Basis or Vault Pro (file management).
11. Familiar with GPS ISO (BS 8888).
12. Experience in providing support to resolution of manufacturing, inspection and test Technical Queries/production permits/concessions. Note: SME support for materials, welding NDT and design for manufacture will be made available.
13. Experience in managing and directing designers in delivery of mechanical plant and equipment drgs and documents.
14. Experience and working knowledge of plant layout, set up, installation and alignment of plant and equipment and machinery for works test, integrated test and site installation.
15. Experience in writing & checking works test requirement documentation and Integrated works test documents for Plant, Equipment and machinery. Interaction with CE&I engineers will be required to ensure complete multi-disciplinary interactions are addressed.
16. Capacity to support office based working arrangement for of up to 5 days per week (Typically a blended working arrangement, 3/2 Office/WFH based on work demand and by agreement with manager). Visits to suppliers premises may be required in support of manufacture/test issue resolution.
Desirable Skills and Experience
17. Experience and working knowledge of safety case.
18. Awareness and experience or working with SL Engineering Standards and Specifications.
19. Experience in checking manufacturing drgs.
20. Retrieval of information from DM desktop and other record management systems.
21. Experience in designing in a nuclear environment.
22. Experience in Alpha glovebox design principals for containment.
23. Experience in design and integration of machines in accordance with the SoMSR.
24. Experience and working knowledge of CDM, SoMSR, PUWER & LOLER.
