The apprenticeship is a 2-year academic program including work-based learning in partnership with UCLAN. Applicants will develop knowledge and skills by attending university one day per week and undertaking up to 20 hours of additional study per week in their own time.

Qualified Assistant Practitioners are encouraged to apply for this position as well.

Main duties of the job

As an Assistant Practitioner/Trainee Assistant Practitioner, you will work as part of the Stroke Rehabilitation Therapy Team, assisting in delivering specialist therapy across East Lancashire, supporting qualified therapists in assessing and treating stroke patients.

You will undertake highly skilled support work supervised by a member of the Stroke Rehabilitation Therapy Team, which may include gathering assessment information, implementing treatment programs, and recommending equipment and minor adaptations.

You will employ technical and creative skills to deliver therapeutic activities, evaluate and modify treatment programs with guidance, and take responsibility for your own caseload within a broad framework provided by a qualified therapist.

The work settings include inpatient stroke units, care homes, and patients' homes. The role may involve lone working in the community.

The working hours are currently 08:30 to 16:30 over 6 days a week, including bank holidays, with plans to extend to 7 days. Flexibility to change base according to service needs is required.
