Offer description

The job role at St Giles Trust involves delivering the "Learning to Advise" course to individuals with lived Criminal Justice experience, supporting them in achieving certification and further opportunities. The part-time, fixed-term role requires training delivery, learner support, and collaboration with partners. Band 3

York or Scarborough

Holiday:

30 days + bank and statutory holidays (pro-rated if part time)

Salary:

£12,500 (pro-rata) Full Time Equivalent - £25,000

Please note successful candidates should expect to be appointed at the starting point of the salary scale and consideration may be given to a higher salary depending on the experience of the individual.

You will provide our Learning to Advise assured course to individuals with Criminal Justice lived experience. You will engage and support individuals to achieve their certification and progress onto further opportunities and placements. You will work as part of a larger Trainer Assessor team which ensures excellent standards are maintained in terms of course delivery. You will be required to work closely with our partners, Inspire North, to coordinate volunteer placements and maintain excellent working relationships.


(1) Key Deliverables

* Interviewing applicants, assessing learning and other needs, considering support issues and experience; and carrying out risk assessments
* Delivering our assured Learning to Advise course, in accordance with requirements
* Working with learners to produce and review realistic individual learning plans in accordance with project requirements and provide a comprehensive induction
* Providing one-to-one support to peer advisors and volunteers attached to projects as appropriate
* Ensuring that confidentiality and security of information is maintained in accordance with our Confidentiality, Data Protection, IT and Security policies. Promoting sustainable working practices and reducing the environmental impact of St Giles work.
* Demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to St Giles values and to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of St Giles approach to employing and developing lived experience including how it is applied in line with our values.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

* Experience of delivering training to adults facing disadvantages
* Qualification in Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) (desirable)
* Knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by people involved in the Criminal Justice System in accessing and sustaining training or employment and how these can be overcome
* Practical application of diversity awareness and unconscious bias in employment.
* Knowledge of anti-discriminatory working practices, and the implications of both within the working environment
* Awareness of and commitment to equal opportunity and diversity practices and policies, and ability to promote diversity and treat colleagues and learners fairly and with respect

Skills & Abilities

* Ability to support people who have multiple and complex needs
* Demonstrate the ability to support and motivate learners with multiple complex needs
* Proven ability to apply a creative approach to planning activities and to adopt a range of approaches
* Self-motivated and enjoys working independently
* Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with others to achieve organisational goals, and to resolve conflicts of interest professionally

* Ability to set up and operate systems to monitor and report on work

* Strong IT skills with an ability to work with a case database on a day-to-day basis
* Good written and communication skills
* Ability to be flexible and develop positive working relationships with other staff, volunteers and partner organisations to achieve targets
