We are looking for a Senior Portfolio Manager to join our Alternatives function, and lead the oversight and management of an extensive portfolio of legacy private market investments across real estate, private equity, infrastructure, private credit and a range of diversified alternatives, valued at c.£10bn.
This is a new function Border to Coast is establishing as it becomes responsible for these legacy assets in accordance with Border to Coast's Investment Policy, investment process, procedures and relevant legal or regulatory documentation. The role will include leadership and direct line management of a team of Portfolio Managers, Assistant Portfolio Managers and Investment Analysts.
We are interested in hearing from highly experienced Portfolio Managers with generalist experience across a range of alternatives asset classes and products and an interest in the oversight and management of a broad range of open and closed-ended investments (c.700 line items). In addition, this would suit those with an interest and ability in leading other Portfolio Managers to be successful.
In the role you will lead the Legacy Portfolios for Border to Coast. This will include:
* Oversight and management of legacy private markets investment portfolios and existing Border to Coast investments in line with internal procedures and customer requirements.
* Regular review of the performance, attribution, exposure and risk metrics of the sub-fund/portfolio
* Oversight and production of quarterly and ad hoc reporting
* Preparation and maintenance of extensive due diligence reports to support investment decision making and portfolio construction using internal and external sources of data and research
* You will also develop strong relationships with external managers and other industry participants.
* In addition, you will participate in investment team meetings, liaise with the research and risk team to ensure an integrated investment approach and provide feedback on the quality, depth and focus of research.
* You will also lead and develop the supporting Portfolio Managers within the team.
Educated to Degree level and with a suitable investment management qualification, you will have relevant experience of portfolio oversight of a diverse range of Alternative investments, leading due diligence, including reviewing investment, operational and ESG factors. You will also demonstrate clear investment decision making and portfolio and risk management experience.
With a keen interest in and understanding of investment markets, long-term investment, and a commitment to responsible investment and sustainability, you will have experience of using investment management software, problem solving and decision-making capability and strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

We are seeking a candidate with senior portfolio management experience across open and closed-ended investments in alternatives, a track record of leading teams, and the ability to oversee a large and diverse set of investments. The role will require collaboration with external managers and internal risk and research teams, and a focus on long-term responsible investing.
Qualifications
Educated to Degree level with a suitable investment management qualification. Experience required in portfolio oversight of a diverse range of alternative investments, leading due diligence (investment, operational and ESG factors), and strong investment decision making, portfolio and risk management capabilities.
