Overview
We are looking for a Ward Clerk to join our friendly team on the Children’s Ward at Furness General Hospital. This is a fixed‑term contract for 12 months, part‑time hours. As the first port of call you will provide a welcoming and professional approach to all children, young people, families and staff attending the unit, dealing with sensitive, confidential information in a sympathetic and reassuring manner.
Responsibilities
* Provide clerical and administrative support to the ward team, using the hospital system efficiently and with minimal supervision.
* Maintain accurate, confidential record keeping and data entry for ward activities.
* Support ward staff and families through effective communication and information management.
* Assist with arranging appointments, referrals and day‑case procedures as required.
* Work collaboratively with the wider hospital and community services to promote seamless patient care.
Qualifications
* Computer literate, comfortable with hospital information systems.
* Strong clerical and administrative skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to handle sensitive and confidential information sensitively.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical environment.
* Current DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one as required.

Applicants will be assessed against the Person Specification and may be subject to Disclosure & Barring Service checking. Successful applicants will receive a standard Induction and a 6‑month probationary period to become familiar with the role.
