The Maternity Tobacco Dependency Advisor will provide individualized smoking cessation support to women and families in a flexible and innovative way, in line with the NHS Long Term Plan commitment to offer tobacco treatment services to all pregnant people who smoke.
Recruiting one candidate to cover Basingstoke and one to cover Winchester and Andover, each for 30 hours across 4–5 days Monday‑Friday.
We are unable to provide sponsorship for candidates who do not have a visa at this time.
Responsibilities
* Undertake relevant training to qualify as an intermediate smoking cessation Advisor and maintain skills and knowledge through continuous development.
* Identify and work with clients eligible for intermediate intervention smoking cessation conversations in a variety of settings, delivering client‑led treatment plans in accordance with national and local guidelines.
* Participate in educating pregnant clients and staff about the benefits of stopping smoking in pregnancy and support those wanting to quit; promote smoke‑free homes and advise on passive smoking.
* Deliver Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitoring to a high standard and engage in the collection and collation of CO rates in pregnancy and post‑partum.
* Engage with the Smokefree pregnancy incentive scheme; maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records for monthly, contractual, and NHS Digital reporting; create, present, and submit reports to the SIP lead before deadlines.
* Work closely with local stop‑smoking services and the PH team to ensure the work links to wider strategy.
* Plan and organise workload, including management of a caseload.
* Deliver one‑to‑one, drop‑in or group sessions, focusing on supporting clients from local communities.
The trust operates three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, and Andover War Memorial Hospital.
