The Matron is responsible for implementing the Trust’s strategy and objectives within the Anaesthetics Directorate, ensuring services are standardised across all relevant areas to deliver consistently high-quality care for all patients.
The role supports the planning and management of services to optimise the use of resources and contributes to the development of a sustainable, safe workforce that is fit for the future within their area of responsibility.
The Matron ensures that services are delivered within a culture where patient safety, clinical excellence, continuous service improvement, and financial accountability are prioritised.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. 1st Level Registered nurse/Midwife /AHP on relevant part of the Register
2. Accredited management/leadership training or evidence of practical application of expertise at this level
Desirable criteria
3. Masters degree

Experience
Essential criteria
5. Proven track record of operational management in the acute healthcare setting managing a ward / service/ department. Including staff, financial/budgetary and change management
Knowledge
Essential criteria
6. Highly developed specialist knowledge for field of practice, underpinned by theory and experience
