St Michael Abbey School will be opening in September 2025, offering a British Education in a world community. Set in 22 acres of beautiful English countryside we offer excellent teaching and boarding facilities. St Michael Abbey School are looking for a School Nurse to support its Boarding facility:
Overall Purpose
To provide high-quality, proactive healthcare and wellbeing support to all pupils and staff at St Michael Abbey School Ltd. The School Nurse will promote and support the physical, mental, and emotional health of the school community, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.
Key areas
1. Supervise the medical room (including care of sick, injured and distressed individuals until better and further care can be arranged with parents, hospital, dispense drugs as appropriate etc).
2. Implement and maintain arrangements for First Aid provision to comply with statutory and SJCS requirements, including risk assessment to determine sensibly and reasonably the total numbers of First Aid personnel required, the training of First Aiders, maintenance of records, accident reporting arrangements, statutory notices and First Aid boxes.
3. Provide specific medical provision for pupils under the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act (SENDA) and provide guidance as required on reasonable adjustments to be made to provision, resources and facilities as a consequence of medical conditions, in accordance with SENDA, liaising with teachers and support staff as required.

Key Requirements
4. An RN Qualification or equivalent with a valid NMC PIN (i.e. A&E, School nursing, Practice nursing).
5. First Aid at Work and Pediatric First Aid qualifications
6. Full Clean driving license would be beneficial
7. Experience in either school nursing experience; A&E experience; pediatric nursing experience, or experience in adolescent health.
8. A very high level of energy, enthusiasm and self-motivation

You will work for 34 weeks per year (term time only), plus an additional 1 week outside of term time, according to the needs of the School and as directed by the Bursar. This may be included in some weekend work during term time as mentioned below.
Your normal working hours will be 8.30am to 5pm.
You will not be required to work during the school holidays except as detailed above, unless otherwise agreed.
There are, occasionally, times when the School Nurse may be asked to work outside the above stated hours, e.g. being available for staff meetings or training after school or for the (very) occasional Saturday morning or weekday evenings for extra-curricular events.
