The Opportunity
An established and highly reputable food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the site technical function at one of its key UK operations. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for food safety, quality, and compliance standards across the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the site Technical/Quality team, ensuring high performance and development
* Take full ownership of the site’s Food Safety & Quality Management Systems
* Act as the primary contact for all external audits (BRCGS, customer, retailer, and regulatory)
* Ensure compliance with all legal, food safety, and customer requirements
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement across quality and technical standards
* Manage customer relationships in relation to technical performance and issues
* Oversee internal auditing, supplier approval, and traceability systems
* Lead investigations into non-conformances, implementing robust corrective actions
* Work cross-functionally with Production, Operations, and NPD teams
About You
* Proven experience in a Technical/Quality leadership role within food manufacturing
* Strong working knowledge of BRCGS standards and retailer requirements
* Experience leading audits and dealing directly with customers and regulatory bodies
* Excellent leadership and team management skills
* Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, hands-on approach
* Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science or a related discipline is desirable
