West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and professional individual to join our Transport and Countryside Service as a Civil Enforcement Officer, reporting to the Civil Enforcement Officer (Shift Leader). The Role Responsibilities As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enforcing parking regulations within the West Berkshire area. Your key responsibilities will include: Conducting regular patrols to monitor and enforce parking restrictions Issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to vehicles in contravention of parking regulations Providing excellent customer service by dealing with enquiries and complaints from the public Gathering evidence and preparing reports Working collaboratively with other teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective enforcement As a member of the Transport and Countryside Service, you will contribute to the overall delivery of transport and parking services, helping to improve the local environment and enhance the quality of life for residents. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: Proven experience working as a Civil Enforcement Officer or in a similar enforcement role Sound knowledge of parking legislation, regulations, and enforcement practices Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with difficult situations and resolve conflicts Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively Attention to detail, with the ability to accurately record information and prepare reports Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team However, we welcome applications from all who may have relevant experience within other roles, or are willing to work towards being a great member of the team. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role, as regular travel within the West Berkshire area is required.
