Job Summary
This is a fixed-term position for 6 months. The role manages a team delivering responses to requests made under Data Protection, Access to Health Records, and Freedom of Information Acts. Responsibilities include meeting deadlines by allocating and prioritising workload, supporting day‑to‑day staff induction and training, ensuring secure processing of personal identifiable information, providing support to the management team, supporting the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, and offering Information Governance advice across the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the Information Governance management team.
* Manage the Information Governance Team (Freedom of Information Support Officer and Disclosure Team), ensuring all requests are received centrally, recorded and processed in line with Trust / Data Protection Act/GDPR, Access to Health Records Act (AHRA), and relevant time limits, and retrieve applicable fees.
* Deliver compliance with Freedom of Information and Environment Information Regulations requests, act as a point of expertise and advice and respond accordingly.
* Monitor IG Team standards and performance, provide monthly activity reports to the Information Governance Manager and keep the team’s information resources up to date.
* Support the Senior IG Officer in coordinating the completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit external assessment, identify requirements, evidence and gaps, and create an action plan.
* Contribute to the development of IG standards and codes of practice within the Corporate Governance Team and Trust wide.
* Maintain office consumables using Unit 4, as part of the scheme of delegation.
Eligibility & Person Specification
Essential:
* Educated to degree level of equivalent.
* Experience managing records and information at a senior level for the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Access to Health Records Act 1990, and Freedom of Information Act.
* Leadership skills demonstrating self‑motivation and the ability to enthuse team members.
* IT literacy and good MS Windows skills, including Word and Excel.
* Previous experience in Information Governance within the NHS.
* Minimum of 2 GCSEs, including English and Mathematics or equivalent.
Desirable:
* NVQ in Administration or equivalent.
* Experience with NHS IT Systems.
* Ability to work under pressure to a high standard of output.
* Freedom of Information ISEB, Data Protection ISEB.
* General understanding of Human Resources Policies & Procedures.

Job Details
Pay: £31,049 to £37,796 a year (pro rata) – Band 5.
Contract: Fixed term – 6 months.
