Job Summary
A Maintenance Electrician position is available within the Building/Workshop department in Tranent. This is a permanent, full-time role involving electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor or Senior Engineer.
Applicants Must Have
* Qualified Electrician with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
* Full, clean driver’s license and own transport
* Previous experience as a Maintenance Electrician
* Willingness to participate in overtime and emergency callouts
* Effective communication and teamwork skills
* Methodical work approach and customer care skills
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and adopt a positive attitude
Key Responsibilities
* Perform electrical repairs and maintenance across Charles River sites
* Install electrical and computer wiring per IEE regulations
* Conduct portable appliance testing and maintain records
* Maintain electrical equipment and advise staff on electrical systems
* Monitor and calibrate room temperature and humidity sensors
* Adjust room controls and participate in generator testing
* Coordinate with Plant Engineers and service engineers
* Keep detailed records of work performed
* Diagnose faults and perform testing, including high voltage work if qualified
This role requires working outside normal hours, including being part of a rotational on-call team, with an on-call allowance. You must arrange your own travel for work hours and overtime, including weekends and early mornings.
The salary is £40,000 annually, plus on-call allowances. Participation in the on-call rota is expected, and allowances are provided accordingly. If participation ceases, allowances will be discontinued.
