JOB TITLE: Garment Technologist
LOCATION: Moorgate, London
CONTRACT: Permanent
HOURS: 35 hours per week
PAY RATE: Up to £30,000 P/A
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
We have an amazing opportunity to join our Apricot family in our Head Office!
This role would be ideal for a Junior Technologist looking for the next step up to Garment Technologist with more responsibility and ownership.
The Garment Technologist works within our Tech Team to ensure that the fit and quality of our garments meet Company standards and expectations.
Our ideal candidate will have at least 3 years recent experience as a multi-category womenswear Garment Technologist, ideally working within a high street supplier (we will also consider candidates who have previously worked for both inhouse for a brand and with a supplier).
What we desire from our team:
* Responsible for all aspects of garment quality assurance and fit, from 1st fit to final delivery to stores.
* Attend fit meetings with buyers, designers, and pattern cutters.
* Measuring, documenting, and assessing samples from first fit to production.
* Checking the construction and quality of the garments and advising on options and solutions for quality assurance.
* Keeping production critical path up to date, ensuring samples are fitted and comments sent out in time.
* Writing notes, preparing comments, grading specs and updating workbooks, sending to suppliers and factories on daily basis.
* Manage and support on testing and safety standards ensuring all products meet minimum requirements.
* Arranging for product testing to be carried out when needed.
* Interpreting test reports and issuing wash care information.
* Discussing with QC / team members / suppliers to see how best to resolve any quality issues found.
How we imagine you:
* At least 3 years' experience as a multi-category Garment Technologist working for a high street supplier
* Have a clear understanding of the supply chain and working to critical path
* Demonstrable knowledge of garment construction, fit, quality assurance, wash/care instructions and an understanding of patterns
* Demonstrable experience of having worked with knit, jersey, woven, casual, outerwear and soft tailoring
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships across al levels of the business
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Proficient in all MS Office packages, particularly Excel
* Demonstrable knowledge of test reports and what tests are required for which type of product
* A quick learner with a hunger to learn more
