We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our process team based in Swadlincote. This role involves designing mechanical systems and components that support and enhance manufacturing and industrial processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of process flows, equipment integration, and continuous improvement methodologies to deliver innovative and efficient mechanical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop detailed 3D models and designs using Inventor and Plant 3D software, focusing on piping systems and related components.
* Collaborate with project teams, including Process Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Systems Engineers.
* Integrate designs to ensure alignment with project requirements and specifications.
* Work with P&IDs to develop piping systems and layouts.
* Interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and other design documentation to accurately translate them into 3D models.
* Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements by interpreting and analyzing technical specifications.
* Detail models to produce general arrangements (GAs), manufacturing drawings, layouts, weldments, and assemblies.
* Generate documentation supporting compliance with the Supply of Machinery Regulations.
* Work closely with the project management team to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a 3D Design Engineer in the process industry, with a focus on pipe specifications.
* Good knowledge of P&IDs and PFDs.
* Understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations in the process sector.
* Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor & Vault.
* Experience with Plant 3D software, Revit, and BIM360.
* HNC or higher in a mechanically biased engineering discipline.
* Ability to perform hand calculations for sizing basic supporting structures.
* Strong problem-solving skills to address design challenges effectively.
* Good written English and effective communication skills with peers and clients.
