Allied Health at Cabrini is a rapidly expanding and highly integrated service comprising twelve professional disciplines. The department plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across the organisation.
Cabrini Allied Health offers a wide range of opportunities, including senior consultant and leadership roles, clinical stream positions, junior staff rotation and support programs, professional development and teaching opportunities, and the cultivation of strong external and university partnerships.
What the role involves
The Grade 2 physiotherapist will work as a senior physiotherapist across Cabrini Malvern and Brighton in a rotational format. This position includes working with elective and traumatic orthopaedic conditions, spinal neurosurgery, paediatrics, our orthopaedic preadmission clinic, day of surgery service, and within the Emergency Department. You will provide support and clinical oversight to the Grade 1 physiotherapists, AHAs and physiotherapy students.
We will provide access to professional development and supervision from grade 3 staff, allowing you to further extend your own clinical, education and leadership skills.
The role involves working 72 hours per fortnight, primarily based at Malvern, but may involve work within orthopaedics at Cabrini Brighton. A flexible work schedule can be discussed with the orthopaedic stream leaders to meet service demands, with the primary schedule being Tuesday to Saturday.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Conducting evidence-based clinical care of acute orthopaedic, neurosurgical and ED patients
2. Promoting new service initiatives to improve rapid discharge and enhance bed flow
3. Surgeon stakeholder engagement
4. Developing and updating clinical protocols
5. Supporting junior Physiotherapists, AHAs and students on-site at Cabrini Malvern or Brighton.
What we're looking for:
We are looking for a motivated senior physiotherapist in acute orthopaedics, and who is passionate about providing high quality patient-centred care.
You will have
6. A Physiotherapy degree
7. Current registration with AHPRA as a physiotherapist
8. Professional development and clinical experience in orthopaedics, neurosurgery and ED
9. Flexibility to work at other Cabrini sites and on weekends
10. Strong team approach and communication skills within a multi-disciplinary team
