Are you a Music or Drama Psychotherapist who would like to share your professionalism and experience to support vulnerable children and young people in West London?
Social workers, school safeguarding staff and other professional people refer children to our service for long-term therapeutic support. The children are very often living with foster parents or are living with vulnerable birth families. Some are adopted or living with special guardians and are now ready to address past trauma. Specific needs include those with a parent who has mental ill health, families who have faced domestic or other abuses, or criminal activity. All those referred to us have experienced considerable trauma and loss.
School is a safe place for most children and particularly for those from an unsettled background. Chance Arts team liaises with school safeguarding staff, children's services and other appropriate people to offer the best possible outcome for each child.
Our therapy programme is based on ten weekly sessions per term and usually lasts for a minimum of a year. We do our best to offer flexibility within the school timetable and try to arrange sessions with a minimum of disruption to provide consistency and to meet each child's learning needs.
Our current vacancy
The current vacancy is for an experienced psychotherapist to offer weekly sessions to three children in Key Stage 1 and 2, all based in Ealing. Initially, the post we offer will be for one day a week, during school hours, with the possibility to expand to further work, depending on qualifications and experience. The initial daily rate will be from £150.
Relevant Information
* Prior relevant experience of working in schools, particularly KS1, early years, or with children's services, is desirable and needs to be given in full on your current CV.
* All our therapists are engaged on a self-employed basis, with a contract for 10 weekly sessions over a whole term, which is usually negotiated for the whole of a child's individual process and varies according to each referral. We recommend individual therapy takes place over a minimum of a year.
* All our team members are subject to Enhanced DBS checks, HCPC registration and therefore have protected status or UKCP equivalent qualification and arts experience.
* Supervision Chance Arts provides planning and managerial supervision for all its therapists Team members are expected to have supervision with a supervisor of their own discipline.

Chance Arts is small charity offering its psychotherapy service to schools in Ealing, and neighbouring boroughs.
Our team provides individual arts psychotherapy for children aged 5 to 12 years These take place in primary schools, and include weekly Art, Dramatherapy and Music Therapy sessions and, in some settings, support for young children through group work.
