Catering Assistant Location: Blackburn Hours: 9:00am – 2:45pm, Monday to Friday Pay: £13.75 per hour Contract: Temporary to Permanent We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Catering Assistant to join a Secondary Alternative Provision in Blackburn. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with catering experience who is passionate about supporting young people and being part of a supportive school environment. About the Setting: The school caters to students aged 11–16 who have faced challenges in mainstream education. The provision offers a structured and supportive environment focused on engagement, personal development, and tailored learning. As a Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in the daily running of the school kitchen, helping to provide nutritious meals and maintain a clean, safe food environment for both students and staff. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation and serving of meals Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and hygienic Support stock control and food storage procedures Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations Work as part of a small, friendly team to deliver quality service Interact positively and professionally with staff and students Requirements: Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred) Ability to work efficiently and follow instructions Friendly, flexible, and reliable An understanding of safeguarding in a school environment (training will be provided) This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, offering stability for the right candidate and the chance to become a valued member of the school community.
