Are you an education expert? We are currently seeking to represent an experienced SEMH teaching assistant for long term teaching assistant job in Staffordshire, West Midlands. If you are a SEND (SEMH) specialist who is available immediately or from October 2025, we would be keen to speak with you.
If you are an experienced teaching assistant who has worked with pupils with SEND (SEMH) across either primary or secondary phases this role may be for you. This teaching assistant job is initially offered as a temporary, full-time post based at an established, alternative provision school. You may also have the opportunity to apply for the permanent upcoming vacancies after the first term. Their children come from a wide range of backgrounds, but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
This site is part of a national trust who are focussed on supporting children with complex behaviours and needs. Their pupils have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences, and they work closely with them to develop self-belief to become effective learners. Responsibilities
* Provide SEMH support to pupils across primary or secondary phases within an alternative provision setting.
* Assist with development of social, emotional and behavioural skills and engagement in learning.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and implement tailored support strategies.
* Promote a positive, trauma-informed approach to learning and behaviour management.
Qualifications
* A relevant UK based teaching assistant qualification (Minimum level 3).
* Substantial experience working with pupils with SEMH or SEND within an education setting.
* All required documents for safer recruitment processing including but not limited to a valid right to work proof.
* Exceptional references.
What to expect in the recruitment process
Once shortlisted, a one-to-one interview will be scheduled with your dedicated consultant to discuss your experience and personal requirements. You will be provided with advice and guidance in relation to your requirements that respect your home and work life balance. You will work solely with your consultant throughout your registration journey and beyond, always having direct access to speak with them on a one-to-one basis.

Proposed start date: Immediate or October 2025
Salary: Dependant on experience (£120 per day to £140 per day)
