SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Primary School Setting Contract: Term Time Only Hours: Full-time / Part-time (as required) Start Date: As soon as possible About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support our mainstream primary school. The successful educator will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with special educational needs, including learning, communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping children thrive both academically and emotionally. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN Support children with EHCPs and individual learning plans Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities to meet pupils’ needs Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing Support pupils’ independence, confidence and engagement in learning Observe and record progress, sharing feedback with teaching staff Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals Ensure pupils’ safety and wellbeing at all times The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience working with children with SEN (school or other setting) A calm, nurturing and patient approach Good communication and teamwork skills An understanding of inclusion and child-centred learning The ability to follow guidance and use initiative Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not essential We Offer A welcoming and supportive school environment Ongoing training and professional development opportunities The chance to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives Supportive leadership and experienced SEN staff Safeguarding This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
