We are looking for a passionate and motivated Speech and Language Therapist who is committed to making a meaningful difference for people living with head and neck cancer. You will be eager to grow and develop specialist skills within this rewarding role.
This role offers the opportunity to join a well-established and respected Adult Speech and Language Therapy service, with excellent support at its core. You will also be an integral member of the multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Team.
The postholder will be based at Glangwili General Hospital and will provide services across the Hywel Dda University Health Board region. The role will require working at other locations, as necessary, to meet service needs.
Contribute to the provision of speech and language therapy for the head and neck cancer population of Hywel Dda University Health Board by providing high quality, efficient and effective speech and language therapy services, within available resources and in accordance with the Registration Codes of HCPC and RCSLT.
Treat, manage and support patients and carers of patients with highly complex communication and swallowing disorders as a consequence of head and neck cancer.
Function independently with a developed level of clinical expertise in dysphagia and acquired communication difficulties to fulfil the core responsibilities identified.
Manage a complex, specialist caseload, independently applying knowledge of advanced management in dysphagia, including knowledge of Videofluoscopic Swallow Study (VFSS), Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and tracheostomy.
Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.
