Job Description The Flow Operations Manager will lead the Flow Room function, ensuring the smooth, efficient, and accurate flow of orders across the warehouse. The role provides oversight and proactive management of order release, site occupancy, loading bay flow, and incident handling, working closely with Shift Managers, operations, automation, planning and Transport to deliver operational targets. The role is responsible for ensuring consistent, objective, and timely reporting to support decision making, while driving the standards of rhythm, routine, and operational alignment across the site. The Flow Operations Manager will ensure Flow Room activity is fully aligned with SQDCP metrics and the Department Build framework, embedding accountability across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People. A key accountability is to ensure the Flow Room has the tools, systems, and processes required to succeed, proactively identifying gaps and working cross-functionally to resolve them. You will focus on: Achievement of OTIF and delivery targets. Reduction in aged orders and split orders. Improved site occupancy management and reduced bottlenecks. Delivery of accurate, standardised, and timely reporting trusted by operational leaders. Flow Room staff are equipped with tools, training, and processes to operate effectively and independently. Positive engagement and performance within the Flow Room team. Strong integration with Shift Managers, Planning, IT, Automation, and Transport. Demonstrated alignment with SQDCP and Department Build objectives. The Warehouse operations manager is accountable for end-to-end warehouse flow management, ensuring that orders, resources, and dispatch capacity are aligned to deliver the operational plan. This includes: Ownership of order release strategy and sequencing. Proactive site occupancy management to optimise space and resources. Coordination of loading bay activity and outbound flow with Transport. Real-time monitoring of performance and escalation management. Delivery of consistent, standardised reporting and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Lead and develop the Flow Room team, building capability and succession to ensure resilience and consistent decision-making. Manage the order release strategy, balancing site capacity with customer priorities. Deliver credible, data-driven recommendations that build trust and alignment with Shift Managers. Monitor and drive OTIF performance, reducing aged order tail and split orders. Coordinate proactive occupancy management to optimise space and resources. Ensure timely escalation and management of operational incidents. Deliver standardised, accurate, and timely reporting on flow performance, SQDCP, and site KPIs. Shift the Flow Room approach from reactive firefighting to proactive planning, anticipating risks before they impact operations. Work collaboratively with Shift Managers, Planning, IT, Automation, and Transport to ensure integrated end-to-end flow management. Maintain visibility of outbound capacity by factoring confirmed trailer and driver availability into order release decisions, in coordination with the Transport team. Coordinate order release through to warehouse loading bays, ensuring trailers are filled in sequence and aligned with operational priorities. Identify and secure the tools, data, and processes required for the Flow Room to deliver its objectives, escalating gaps where necessary. Develop rhythm and routine across flow processes, embedding best practice and continuous improvement. Function as a change leader, ensuring Flow Room standards evolve alongside automation, WMS enhancements, and operational transformation. Support the wider Operations team in achieving SQDCP and UPH targets.
