Are you into flood risk management and looking for your next exciting opportunity? We are seeking senior flood modellers to join our thriving business and work on projects across the UK. If this describes you, we want to hear from you and discuss how we can help develop your career!

We have recently been named as a Delivery Partner for the Environment Agency’s latest framework to better understand the impact of climate change and flood risk in England. Under the 2024 Mapping and Modelling Framework, AtkinsRéalis will provide survey, mapping, modelling, incident management, hydrological, and other professional services to identify and plan for climate events. This significant programme aims to improve understanding of climate change impacts and reduce flood risks to communities across England, including vital response efforts for flooded communities. The Framework supports the Environment Agency in making informed investment decisions based on data and evidence.

As a result of this and other projects, we have vacancies across the UK for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals in primarily technical roles.

Role: Contribute to and lead hydraulic and hydrological modelling projects.

Expertise: Proficiency in 1D and 2D modelling for rivers, surface water, and coastal areas.

Location: Vacancies across the UK.

AtkinsRéalis is a major engineering, environmental, and design consultancy offering opportunities for talented consultants to work on diverse projects. We have ongoing flood risk management projects, frameworks for the Environment Agency, local authorities, and major infrastructure projects like HS2 and Sizewell C. Our work includes natural flood management, flood forecasting, flood alleviation, and water resource and quality issues for water companies. We also operate internationally, with projects in the Red Sea economic zone, Middle East, and North America, collaborating with colleagues in India.

Requirements:

We seek Associate consultants, engineers, and modelers with experience in flood risk projects focusing on hydraulic modelling. Candidates should be capable of leading technical work and mentoring junior team members, building strong client relationships through collaborative working.

* Experience in flood risk analysis for strategy, planning, development, or design, with proven project delivery.
* Technical skills in 1D-2D modelling tools such as Infoworks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY, HEC-RAS, and GIS software like ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS. Hydrological assessment experience with FEH and UK hydrology is desirable.
* Leadership experience in developing and leading technical teams.
* Decision-making skills based on available information.

Chartered status is valued, and we support professional development to achieve or maintain memberships with institutions like ICE or CIWEM. Civil engineering design experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

* Perform detailed technical work, including hydraulic modelling, data analysis, GIS, and reporting, ensuring quality assurance.
* Manage and supervise junior resources, support project managers, and progress multiple projects.
* Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide consistent client service.
* Support business development activities, including tendering and stakeholder engagement.
* Contribute to the development of the Flood Risk Team through active participation in technical networks.

The individual should:

* Be motivated and committed to technical excellence.
* Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration.
* Be adaptable and open to new challenges.
* Be well-organized, capable of managing multiple projects, and recognize opportunities for team development.
* Maintain high standards with attention to detail.

Training:

We offer professional development through various training activities, mentoring, and support for achieving professional memberships. We encourage career progression into management roles if desired. Our global networks, including the Flood Risk Management network, facilitate ongoing learning and knowledge sharing.
