Site WHS Manager - Sort Centre, WHS ATS team
We’re seeking a talented Site WHS Manager to join our team. You will partner with the Sort Center team in Craigieburn to manage WHS risks effectively. Your role will involve driving our Amazon WHS culture with site leaders, embedding policies and processes, and ensuring compliance with local legislative obligations. Leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvements to foster a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build trust with the Operations Team and inspire change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
You must be an effective communicator, capable of sending clear, concise, and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders on Amazon WHS policies and assist site teams in integrating safety standards. You will identify best practices and incorporate these into our standards to improve occupational health and safety continually. The role requires excellent safety program knowledge, ergonomic expertise, and the ability to demonstrate this when working with Operations.
You should be comfortable working within a global company and leveraging international resources to support your success. The Site WHS Manager will lead team members such as Workplace Health and Safety Coordinators and develop leadership plans for your team.
Key job responsibilities
1. Manage the health and safety functions at the site, including supervising staff to meet objectives.
2. Engage in collaborative health and safety projects across the site.
3. Provide authoritative advice on health & safety matters to stakeholders within your responsibility area.
4. Ensure compliance with Amazon WHS Policies and Global Standards; develop local site procedures accordingly.
5. Complete risk assessments related to WHS hazards.
6. Measure safety performance against published requirements; develop plans to address deficiencies.
7. Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively.
8. Perform site WHS audits, identify non-compliance issues, and implement solutions.
9. Maintain records and database entries aligned with global safety standards and local regulations.
10. Lead and mentor Safety Associates or H&S representatives, and champion the site WHS committee.
11. Ensure training and awareness of WHS responsibilities among site leadership and Associates.
Minimum requirements
* 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, or service operations.
* Bachelor's degree.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including pivot tables and creating charts and graphics.
* Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS with a diverse workforce of at least 250 employees.
* Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements in an operational environment.
