Responsibilities
* Work primarily on submarines, with additional tasks on ships and in factory environments.
* Execute high‑quality welding using specialised tools and machinery.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
* Support the HMS Victorious project within our Submarines business unit.
* Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to meet project milestones.
Requirements
* Read engineering drawings and interpret technical instructions.
* Use general workshop tools and welding machinery confidently.
* Experience in marine engineering, ideally with Royal Navy or commercial vessels.
* Background in shipyard or factory‑based welding environments.
* Time‑served apprenticeship in marine or naval engineering.
* Indentured apprenticeship relevant to welding.
* Level 3 modern apprenticeship or engineering qualification.
* Level 2 engineering qualification with substantial hands‑on experience desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Many positions within Babcock are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may affect eligibility based on place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency.
