Job summary
We are looking to employ a motivated salaried GP to complement our team of GP partners and provide more stability for our expanding practice. We are hoping to find an individual that is committed to excellent patient care and their own professional development, has a willingness to make a positive contribution to the success of the practice and strives to highlight areas for potential improvement and implement lasting change.
You will be able to use all of your skills and develop additional interests if you wish. Montgomery is a small town, and our nearest A+E is 40minutes away. This makes for true rural general practice which can be incredibly rewarding. Our practice team is also close knit, with no sense of hierarchy and we enjoy social events in and out of the practice together.

Main duties of the job
-Routine surgeries consisting of pre-booked and on the day slots (15minutes). A Mix of face to face and telephone depending on patient preferences, offered at either Montgomery or the branch site in Newtown
-Participation in the On-Call rota depending on experience and once familiar with the practice and systems. This involves supervision of extended practice team including GP trainees, triaging of the same day appointment requests, medication queries and prescribing post
-Home visits (maximum of 1 per routine day unless in extreme circumstances), requirement may vary on on call days but no pre booked patients on these days
-Admin generated by your own appointments only
-Participation in practice audit and quality improvement activities
-Participation in nursing home ward rounds if appropriate for days of week worked
-Completion of some reports, to be negotiated
-No extended hours requirements
About us
Montgomery Medical Practice is a rural, dispensing GP Practice with around 7900 patients situated on the border of Montgomeryshire/Shropshire and a Branch Surgery in Newtown. Despite its idyllic rural location Montgomery is within a short (30 minute) drive of Shrewsbury and an hour and a half from Birmingham. We have a multidisciplinary team that includes Physician Associates, Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants.
We are a training practice. We use EMIS clinical system and Accurx.

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
