Salary: £113,565 - £150,569 Per annum (Yearly)
Job overview Consultant Vascular Surgeon in the Dorset and Wiltshire Vascular Network, based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. You will provide planned clinical sessions at Poole General and Christchurch Hospitals, and be available for emergency coverage across the Network.
Main duties of the job Provide elective and emergency vascular services across the network, including 24/7 coverage from the Main Arterial Centre. Work in a “Consultant of the Week” on‑call rota, share a weekly elective theatre list with senior colleagues, and support outpatient clinics in Royal Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch.
Participate in the weekly network MDT, support daily ward rounds, and engage in Trust educational and governance activities.
Responsibilities
Deliver vascular surgical care across multiple sites
Attend weekly MDT and ward rounds
Conduct clinical audits and contribute to the National Vascular Registry
Teach and train undergraduate and trainee staff
Support service development and improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Full GMC registration with licence to practice
FRCS or equivalent
Specialist training in Vascular and Endovascular surgery
Evidence of excellent clinical skills
Evidence of CCT completion (or within 6 months)
Fellowship within Vascular Surgery
Experience
General training to specialist level in vascular surgery with excellent clinical skills
Experience in endovascular and open surgery
Decision‑making at consultant level
Experience in teaching undergraduates and trainees
Experience in clinical audit and completed audits
Involvement in audit & research projects
Experience in service development and improvement
Experience in renal access surgery planning
Skills, knowledge and aptitude
Excellent leadership, organisational, communication, professional and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a team of consultants
Collaborate with individuals at all levels across NHS trusts
Knowledge of NHS structure and impact of initiatives such as POVS/GIRFT
Management training and experience
Familiarity with data contribution to the National Vascular Registry
Employment conditions Full time or part‑time positions may be considered. Flexibility to work across Trust locations is required. Out‑of‑hours work may be required and remuneration will be in accordance with NHS Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions of Service.
