Details of the role: 1-year fixed term contract, full-time. Working pattern: Monday – Friday, including a late shift 1 – 3 days per week (12pm – 8pm approx.)

About the role…
An exciting, diverse Laboratory Research Scientist (LRS) post has become available. The role will ensure the smooth running of the lab, providing fundamental support to the research within the MANIFEST project (“Multiomic Analysis of Immunotherapy Features Evidencing Success and Toxicity”). The postholder will support reception and processing of human biological samples collected for translational research. This involves receiving, sampling, storing, and processing a wide range of pathology specimens. To this end, the post holder will acquire experience in preparation of serum, plasma and PBMCs from blood.
The MANIFEST project is a newly formed ambitious multi-stakeholder consortium involving academic, industry and NHS partners to deliver deep multiomicprofiling for patients with cancer undergoing immunotherapy. The MANIFEST consortium representsa diverse group of UK-wide experts in cancer research and clinical care comprisingmajor NHS trusts, academic institutes and universities, and industry partners. This grant is funded by the UK Office of Life Sciences (OLS) and the Medical Research Council (MRC).
MANIFEST addresses the critical challenge in cancer treatment: predicting how patients will respond to immunotherapy. By integrating multiomic data and innovative methodologies, this platform aims to enhance treatment precision and effectiveness.
What you will be doing…
Asa Laboratory Research Scientist at the Crick, you will be:
1. Participating in the core duties to maintain the on-going operations of the lab including general housekeeping, stock management, reagent preparation and equipment maintenance.
2. Supporting specimen reception and initial sample processing
3. Ensuring accurate and comprehensive records are maintained andassisting in quality control.
4. Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained at all times
5. Collaborating with other lab members on/Assisting other lab members with/ research projects.
6. Providing experimental or technical support to other lab members.
About you…
The essential criteria you will bring…
7. A degree in biosciences or similar, or equivalent experience
8. Ability to work within regulatory and policy frameworks
9. Ability to understand and follow SOPs and Risk Assessments
10. Can demonstrate contributing effectively to the work of a team
11. Possesses good time management and organisational skills
12. Possesses good observational and attention to detail skills
13. Possesses clear and effective communication skills
14. Proven accurate record keeping skills
15. Ability and knowledge to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of internal and external colleagues.
16. Flexible and co-operative approach to working with others
17. Experience using Microsoft office software package, particularly Microsoft Excel
