Hazard perception training for young tractor drivers
Research and Innovation Assistant
To be employed at Grade E (£26,000-£28,000) or Grade F (£28,000-£31,000), depending on qualifications and experience.
This is a 19-month fixed-term, full-time role.
About the Role
Nottingham Trent University has one of the largest academic units of Psychology in the UK, with over academic staff, renowned for its research. The department offers diverse undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
We seek a postgraduate Research Assistant to support a 19-month project developing and delivering a hybrid VR/classroom hazard perception training course for young tractor drivers, led by Prof. David Crundall.
You will assist in creating, validating, and delivering the training to students in agricultural colleges across the UK and Young Farmers Clubs. Responsibilities include evaluating the course through pre- and post-measures of attitudes and hazard perception skills, and analyzing data to improve the course.
This role is ideal for candidates with an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in psychology or related fields, interested in applied research and gaining lecturing experience. Extensive experience in fields like road safety or agricultural safety may substitute formal qualifications. The candidate should have confident presentation skills and be comfortable addressing groups.
Preferred but not essential skills include experience in traffic and transport psychology, virtual reality hardware/software, video editing, and proficiency with R Studio. A UK driving license and the ability to stay overnight at training locations are required due to travel needs.
Further details are available in the role profile. Applications are welcome even if not all criteria are met.
